TOPIC

Mac OS X Public Beta passwords cannot contain the colon character.

DISCUSSION

    Symptom
Passwords that contain the colon character (:) may prevent the operating system from properly authenticating a user. While the password may be accepted by some parts of the operating system, other parts are not able to verify the password and refuse access.

    Products affected

    • Mac OS X Public Beta

    Solution

Use the System Preferences application to change your password, and avoid using the colon (:) character.
