TOPIC

When I try to log into my AppleShare server from one of my workstations, the Chooser hangs indefinitely. The "Network Arrows" stay on in the upper left corner of the screen, and I can move the cursor, but I can't get any response from the computer unless I force-quit the Chooser.

DISCUSSION

Apple is aware of this behavior and is investigating a solution. To avoid this symptom, try the following workaround: On client machines running System Software 7.5 and later, disable the Apple Menu Options control panel, or disable "Remember recently used items" in the Apple Menu Options control panel.

Note : Setting the "Remember recently used items" option for "Servers" to zero will not resolve the symptom.

On servers running versions of AppleShare File Server prior to 5.0.2/Mac OS 8.0, disable the Apple Menu Options control panel.

Note: This issue has been addressed in Mac OS 9
