TOPIC

If AppleTalk is disabled in AppleShare IP 6.3, Web-Based Remote Admin will not launch and a 504 time-out connection error will occur when attempting to use a Web browser to access Web-Based Remote Admin.

DISCUSSION

Although the connections are made via IP, AppleTalk must be enabled in order to use Web-Based Remote Administration in AppleShare IP 6.3.

    WORDAROUND:

Enable AppleTalk or use Mac OS Server Admin instead of the Web-Based Remote Administration. AppleTalk must be active, but it does not have to be active on the same network port as TCP/IP. If you wish to use Web-Based Remote Admin but do not wish to enable AppleTalk on the same port as TCP/IP, you may set it to "Remote Only" or any other available connection type.
