TOPIC

How to connect a USB device to your computer. While an iMac is used for demonstration purposes in this article, the concepts apply to any USB equipped Power Macintosh computer.

DISCUSSION

(This article is from the Info Center, which comes on your computer's hard disk.)

To connect a USB device to your computer, follow these steps:

Note: If you're using an adapter or adapter cable, see the documentation that came with the adapter or your USB device for more information on connecting it to your computer.

    1. If necessary, plug a standard USB cable into a USB port on the device. If your USB device has a "captive," or attached USB cable, you don't need to do this.

    2. Pug the other end of the USB cable into a USB port on your computer, Apple USB keyboard, or other USB device.

Note: There are two USB ports on your iMac. You can use one to plug in the keyboard and mouse (plug the mouse into the keyboard first), and use the other to connect additional USB devices.
