You can connect headphones to either or both of the two headphone jacks on the front of the computer.

Note: If you use headphones or connect a device to the sound output port, this will mute the built-in speakers.
To connect the headphones, follow these instructions:
      1. Turn the volume level down on the computer. Use the Control Strip, or open the Monitors & Sound control panel, click the Sound button, then adjust the volume slider. For more information, see Mac OS Help.
      2. Plug the stereo miniplug end of the headphone cable into one of the headphone jacks on the front of the computer. If your equipment has a different connector, you can purchase an adapter at an electronics supply store.
      3. The other end of the cable is usually already attached to the headphones. If it's not, attach the other end of the cable to the headphones following the instructions that came with the headphones.
      4. If necessary, adjust the volume of the headphones. For information on how to do this, see Mac OS Help.

Note: Some headphones may come with their own volume control.

When you're finished using headphones, remove the headphone miniplug from the headphone jack.
