TOPIC

This article provides the current list of computers that meet the system requirements for Mac OS X Public Beta.

DISCUSSION

Mac OS X Public Beta requires one of the following Macintosh computers:

    • any Power Mac G4 or Macintosh Server G4
    • any iMac
    • PowerBook G3 Series, PowerBook G3 (Bronze keyboard), PowerBook G3 (FireWire)
    • any iBook
    • any Power Macintosh G3 or Macintosh Server G3

    Additionally, the computer should have:

    • 128 megabytes of physical RAM
    • 1 Gigabyte of free hard disk space
    • Mac OS 9.0.4 already installed to use Classic (Mac OS 9 compatible) applications

Important: Mac OS X Public Beta does not work with original PowerBook G3 computers or computers with processor upgrade cards.

Warning: Do not install Mac OS X Public Beta on computers that do not meet the system requirements. Doing so could render the computer temporarily unusable and may require an overnight logic board reset.
