TOPIC

This article contains troubleshooting information when installing and configuring a RAID adapter for two or more system drives on an Apple Network Server using AIX 4.1.4.0, and the LCD never proceeds past C20. The server stays at C20 until powered off.

DISCUSSION

    Workarounds

The simplest solution is to install AIX with 4.1.4.1 installation CD.

If the AIX 4.1.4.1 Installation CD is not available, follow these steps:
      1. Delete the last RAID system drive or drives from the RAID configuration so there will be 1 system drive only during the BOS install.
      2. Update AIX with the AIX 4.1.4.1 update CD.
      3. Shut down the server after the update is complete.
      4. Create the other RAID system drive or drives exactly as previously defined. Using this technique, you do not need to reinitialize the system drives defined in the RAID configuration.
      5. Restart the server.
The system drives they configured should be available.
