DISCUSSION

If you double-click on the ClarisWorks or ClarisImpact program icon and the New Document dialog does not appear, this means that it is already running in memory on your computer. (Even though you may not have any document windows open, the program can still be running in RAM). This is normal, and virtually all programs on the Macintosh perform this way.

To open a new document, do the following:
    1. Double-click the application icon
    2. Select the New command from the File menu

    Additional Background Information:
You can tell that a program is running in several ways:
    1. The icon is grayed or darkened
    2. System 7: The application menu in the upper right corner lists the program name
    3. System 6, MultiFinder On: The application name is listed at the bottom of the Apple menu.
