DISCUSSION
Sometimes, after using the Capture to File command during a ClarisWorks communications session, when you open the capture file after the session, you may see some strange characters in it. Another problem which can occur is that only some of the data you saw on screen was saved to the file.
Strange Characters
ClarisWorks can capture data from the port or the screen. You change this setting in Preferences. When you capture from the the port, all of the data the host sends is captured, including special characters. If you find this makes the session data unusable, try capturing from screen instead.
Missing Data
Some hosts clear the screen before filling in the next screen. When you are capturing from the screen, this results in much of the session data not being saved. To resolve this problem, click the "save screen before clearing" checkbox in Preferences.
There are some cases where this will not solve the problem, and they are usually caused by hosts that only update the portions of the screen that need changing. For example, in an online name and address database, after seeing the first record, only the data in the fields will be updated as you browse and the form won't be resent. Without the form, no capture can take place. Capturing from the port is the best solution in these cases.
