DISCUSSION

In ClarisDraw 1.0, resizing a paint frame, PICT, or EPSF object with any pen width greater than hairline causes the object to shift location relative to the pen width.

Note that virtually every object that is created by the ClarisDraw graphics tools will be a PICT object, so this problem can occur with lines, circles, rectangles and the like.

Here's one way to reproduce the problem:

    1. Launch ClarisDraw.
    2. Select "Show Object Info" from the VIEW menu
    3. Create a 1" square paint frame aligned with the grid lines.
    4. Exit paint mode and give the frame a 6 point pen.
    5. Resize the frame larger or smaller using the lower right handle.

Notice the upper and left locations have shifted according to the Object Info palette.

Another issue is when resizing (reducing) multiple selected objects (or a group) of an amount greater than 20%, significant shifting of the objects may occur causing the selected object(s) to become dramatically out of alignment. Executing the following steps will significantly reduce this shift.

    * If the object(s) are grouped, continually Ungroup the object(s) until the Ungroup command becomes grayed out - i.e.. the object(s) are completely ungrouped.
    * Select the desired objects to be resized, if not already selected. ALL the objects must be completely ungrouped.
    * Choose the Rulers command (under Layout) and set the divisions/inch to 288.
    * Under the Arrange menu, choose Align to Grid. Align to both upper left, lower right, and center, in that order.
    * Using the Group command, create a single group from the selected objects
    * Resize the group. Movement should be minimal.

You may now ungroup and/or regroup the objects.

The Claris graphics development team is aware of this issue.
