DISCUSSION

There is a known problem with converting files created in MacDraw Pro into ClarisDraw 1.0v1 for the Power Macintosh. Any objects created with the polygon, bezigon or freehand tools will not print to a LaserWriter, even though they look fine on the screen. This is reproducible using LaserWriter Driver version 7.1.2 and 8.1.1 (and probably others).

This has been fixed in ClarisDraw 1.0v2. Any documents already converted from MacDraw Pro to ClarisDraw 1.0v1 for the Power Macintosh will be fixed by saving them out in MacDraw Pro format (thereby retaining any changes made) then reopening them in ClarisDraw 1.0v2 for the Power Macintosh.

    Suggested workarounds for ClarisDraw 1.0v1:

    1) Within ClarisDraw for the Power Macintosh, save the non-printing file as another format (MacDraw Pro or MacDraw II). Reopen the resulting MacDraw Pro/II file with ClarisDraw Native and it should print fine.

    or

    2) Print to a non-PostScript printer, such as a StyleWriter or DeskWriter.

    or

    3) Convert the MacDraw Pro files using ClarisDraw on a Macintosh other than a Power Macintosh. Once saved using ClarisDraw, the file can be opened with Native ClarisDraw on a Power Macintosh and printed successfully.

    or

    3) Use the Custom Installation feature to install non-native ClarisDraw onto a Power Macintosh. Use this non-native version to convert MacDraw Pro files. As in suggestion 3 above, once the files are converted and saved using the non-native version, they can be successfully printed from the PowerPC native version ClarisDraw.
