DISCUSSION

If you are running Open Transport and you close a MacPPP connection, you will not be able to re-open the connection simply by trying to connect again. This issue is caused by a failure in the mechanism that the dialup SLIP/PPP software uses to inform Open Transport that a new IP address has been obtained. When you disconnect and reconnect, Open Transport still thinks you have your old IP address. If your terminal server assigns you a different one when you reconnect, nothing works. Apple says this will be fixed in version 1.1. To work around this issue you can use the Options dialog box in the TCP/IP control panel to force the Open Transport TCP/IP portion to unload and reload. Then you will be able to connect again without having to restart your computer.
