DISCUSSION

    Apple Internet Dialer
The Apple Internet Dialer walks you through a process of choosing an Internet Service Provider or specifying one that you already use. When you save those settings at the end of the process, the Apple Internet Dialer modifies the Internet Configuration System settings file. The Apple Internet Dialer provides a more friendly interface than the Internet Configuration System by explaining each step for you.

    Internet Configuration System
Also known as Internet Config, this application stores all your Internet settings in a central file so that they are accessible to all Internet applications which provide support for Internet Config. The benefit to you is that you only have to type your settings once. You can find Internet Config in the Utilities folder in the Internet Connection Kit folder. If you ever need to change your Internet settings, you may find it easier to use Internet Config rather than click Next, Next, Next through all the Apple Internet Dialer windows.

    Claris Emailer Lite
Claris Emailer Lite uses the Internet Configuration System settings to pick up and send mail. You can see this by choosing Internet Setup from the Setup menu in Claris Emailer Lite. Notice that the checkbox labelled "Use Internet Configuration System" is checked. This means that Claris Emailer is getting its settings from a configuration file modifed by the Apple Internet Dialer. All fields except for the Account name field are grayed out indicating that you cannot type in them. You can however, uncheck the checkbox and manually enter settings straight into Claris Emailer Lite. The Account name field is simply a label that Claris Emailer uses for the Send Mail Via column in a new mail message. The full version of Claris Emailer supports several accounts, which makes the account name field necessary.
