TOPIC

Deleting objects or layers with text does not necessarily modify the font information associated with the document.

This information was provided by Claris Corporation on 16 March 1998, and incorporated into Apple Computer's Tech Info Library.

DISCUSSION

When fonts are used in a ClarisDraw document, ClarisDraw keeps an internal list of used fonts within the document. If the fonts are then changed or removed, the internal font list may not reflect the fact that the removed fonts are no longer present.

This idiosyncrasy becomes very evident when a document is transferred from one machine to another where the installed fonts are different. ClarisDraw will report the uninstalled fonts used in the document as missing. Removing or changing the fonts in the document to match the current installed fonts, then saving the document, will not remove this message when the file is reopened. The only workaround is to create a new document and then copy and paste the desired objects into the new document.
