TOPIC

My AppleVision 1710 display is showing a black screen. The green LED on the front is on but the image is all black. Is there a special repair program to fix this problem?

DISCUSSION

There are no special warranty repair programs available for the AppleVision 1710 and 1710AV displays. The last repair program ended December 31, 1998.

The following instructions will help you perform a display reset if the LED is on but no video is displayed:

    1. Connect the display to a Power Macintosh computer running the AppleVision software version 1.5.5 or later*.
    2. Connect the power, video, and ADB cables to the Power Macintosh.
    3. Power on the computer while holding down the Command-Option-A-V key combination until you hear the system beep sound.
    4. The system beep indicates that the display has been reset.

If the image does not return, contact an Apple Authorized Service Provider to facilitate the repair of your display for you. To locate a dealer near you call 1-800-538-9696.

*Apple Displays 1.5.5 previously known as AppleVision software includes several changes from AppleVision 1.5.3. and can be downloaded from Apple Software Updates: http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n10066
