TOPIC

Since iMac is the Internet Macintosh, how do I go about getting onto the Internet?

DISCUSSION

To get the iMac online, Apple has included an application called Register with Apple. This is an automated AppleScript which checks to see if you have a valid Internet Setup already configured. If not, the script launches Apple Internet Assistant. The whole process proceeds until the you either cancel or have a valid Internet dialup connection configured. Then the software launches the iMac's default browser and attempts to connect to Apple's Online Product Registration site.

Two types of registration servers are used:
    • Internet Service Provider Registration Server - This server provides a method to set up an internet dialup account with EarthLink through their Total Access software.
    • Apple Online Product Registration Server - This Internet Web server allows you to register your product online instead of via the included paper registration card.

If you cancel or a problem occurs when following these steps, we recommend that you launch the Internet Setup Assistant, located in the Internet folder on the iMac hard disk.

If you need to get account information about your EarthLink Internet account please contact EarthLink directly.
