TOPIC

The Find application has been replaced by Sherlock. This article discusses why Apple Help refers to Find instead of Sherlock.

DISCUSSION

The Find application has been renamed Sherlock since in addition to Find File, it now provides additional capabilities of Find By Content and Search Internet.

Due to this late name change, Apple Help was not able to be updated to remove references to the Find application. The information about Find in Apple Help is accurate otherwise and previous methods of accessing the Find application, such as pressing the Command-F keys or selecting Find from Finder's File menu will open the Sherlock application. You can also select Sherlock from the Apple menu.
