TOPIC

This article documents an issue with the USB Keyboard Extender Cable that ships with the Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White).

DISCUSSION

    Overview

Apple has identified an issue with a limited number of USB Keyboard Extender Cables included in the accessory kit that ships with every Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White). This cable is used to extend the distance between the computer and keyboard, and is specially keyed for the Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White) USB connector.

    Symptom

The mouse pointer and keyboard may become unresponsive during use. The computer operates normally without the extender cable.

    Recommended Action

Verify the symptom by removing the extender cable. If your computer operates normally with the extender cable removed, bring the cable to your Apple Authorized Service Provider to have it exchanged under warranty. Removing the extender cable from the USB device returns the computer to normal operation if a replacement cable is not immediately available.
