TOPIC

When connecting certain displays to a Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White) with the wrong adapter, not all options are available in the Monitors and Sound control panel.

DISCUSSION

When connecting the following displays to a Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White) you must use the adapter that came with the computer (part Number 590-1120-A). The part number is molded into the plastic of the adapter.
    • Original Apple Studio Display
    • All AppleVision displays
    • All ColorSync Displays
    • Multiple Scan 1705 Display
    • Multiple Scan 17 and Multiple Scan 20 displays
    • Multiple Scan 720 Display
    • Some Multiple Scan 15 displays

When connecting the following displays to a Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White) AV Bundle, you must use the adapter that came with the display (part number 513-0091-A), not the adapter that came with the G3, since the video card has a DB15 connector.

    • Studio Display 17
    • Studio Display 21
    • Studio Display LCD /B

Note : Using the proper adapter is important. If you use the wrong adapter with the display, some resolutions may be incorrect or missing, and special features of certain models may not be accessible such as flat panel adjustments or ColorSync calibration.

When connecting the Power Macintosh G3 (Blue & White) to certain third party displays and older Apple displays such as the Multiple Scan 15, you may see Recommended resolutions or refresh rates that your display does not support. Use the Monitors & Sound control panel to show All resolutions, and select your desired resolution and refresh rate. Consult the documentation that came with your display to determine which resolutions and refresh rates it works with.
