This article describes the battery and expansion bays used in the PowerBook G3 Series (Bronze Keyboard).

The PowerBook G3 Series with Bronze keyboard has two battery bays similar to earlier PowerBook G3 Series computers. However, the left bay works with a battery only, while the right bay works with a battery or expansion bay device like a CD-ROM drive, or Zip drive.

The battery and expansion bay devices from the earlier PowerBook G3 Series do not work with the PowerBook G3 Series (Bronze keyboard) because they are too tall. The proper battery model number for the PowerBook G3 Series (Bronze keyboard) is M7385G/A.

Apple ships the PowerBook G3 Series (Bronze keyboard) with a expansion bay blank (weight saving module) which takes the place of either a battery or expansion bay device. This module protects the expansion bay from foreign material when an expansion bay device is not installed.

Apple does not provide a floppy drive module for the expansion bay.
