This article tells how to use Apple System Profiler to determine whether the DVD decoder is present on the logic board of your PowerBook G3 Series (bronze keyboard) computer.

The most reliable way to determine if the DVD decoder is present on the logic board is by using the Apple System Profiler. Under the Hardware Overview tab the following appears if the DVD decoder is installed:

You can also look on the underside of the PowerBook; the product ID label has DVD on it if the decoder is installed.

Note : If the PowerBook G3 Series (Bronze keyboard) did not come pre-configured for DVD decoding, there is no upgrade available from Apple to provide that capability.
