TOPIC

This article provides troubleshooting information for when a PowerBook or iBook computer will not run from the AC adapter.

DISCUSSION
      1. Verify the AC adapter is the correct one for your computer. Using an adapter which was not designed for your specific PowerBook is not recommended and no guarantee as to full functionality can be made. To verify you have the correct power adapter, refer to article 16168: " PowerBook: Battery, Recharger & AC Adapter Identification ".

      2. Verify the outlet is working and all connections are tight. Connect the AC adapter to a known good power outlet, plug in a lamp to verify the outlet is supplying power, and make sure power adapter cord is fully inserted into the power adapter.

      3. Reset the power manager. For more information on resetting the power manager, refer to article 14449: " PowerBook: Resetting Power Manager ".

      4. Connect the adapter to the PowerBook, wait a few seconds and then press the power on button.

      5. If problem continues, try another power adapter if available. If not, you will need to arrange for service.

      6. If another adapter resolves the issue, call Apple to arrange for a replacement power adapter.
