    This article tells how much power a Macintosh computer supplies to its USB port(s).


DISCUSSION

    Macintosh computers provide 5 V power at 500 mA for each USB port.

    If you need to connect a USB device, or a chain a devices--such as a joystick plugged into a keyboard--that requires more power you should use a self-powered USB hub. See article 43005: " USB Hub Description " for more information.
