Connecting a Monitor to the VGA Port
To access the VGA port, replace the vented cover with the VGA vented cover provided in the iMac DV accessory kit. For instructions choose Mac Help from the Help menu.
Operational Notes
-
When you connect an external monitor to your computer for video mirroring, the external monitor uses the same resolution and timing as your computer. In order to properly view what is on the computer's screen on the external monitor, you must use one of the following three resolutions:
-
640 by 480 at 117 Hz
-
800 by 600 at 95 Hz
-
1024 by 768 at 75 Hz
-
If the external display is not working, try changing the resolution to 1024 by 768 at 75 Hz, then back to the desired resolution.
-
Only iMac DV computers have a VGA video mirroring feature. There is no upgrade from Apple to provide VGA video mirroring on other iMac computers.
-
Video mirroring allows you to show the same image on two different monitors. You cannot set up the second display to create an extended desktop.
