TOPIC

When Net Booting the 350 MHz version of the Power Mac G4 (PCI Graphics), the computer may appear hung due to an extended period of time to start up.

DISCUSSION

Note: This issue only affects Net Booting, booting from the internal hard drive is not affected.

When using Net Booting, the computer will display the small system folder icon indicating it is looking for valid system software from which to start up. This icon may be displayed for two to five minutes before the start up process continues.

You may workaround this issue by starting the computer from the internal hard drive instead of using Net Booting.

The root cause is within the BootROM and will be fixed in a future update. This article will be updated at that time, or you may refer to the Apple Software Updates Web site at http://www.apple.com/swupdates .
