TOPIC This article provides the necessary steps to update the firmware in an AirPort Base Station after updating to AirPort 1.2. DISCUSSION Before beginning, make sure you are not connected to the Internet since the Base Station will be restated after the update has been performed. 1. Install the AirPort 1.2 software and restart the computer. 2. If you have installed AirPort on the computer for the first time, the AirPort Setup Assistant will launch automatically after you restart your computer. When it does, quit the AirPort Setup Assistant. The dialog box in Figure 1 will appear if you try to use the Setup Assistant before updating the Base Station.
3. Select AirPort network in the AirPort control strip portion or AirPort application. 4. Verify the TCP/IP control panel is set to AirPort and using DHCP. 5. Launch the AirPort Utility 6. Select the Base Station to be updated and click Configure (if it is a new Base Station, select Other and type in 10.0.1.1 and "public" for password). Note: Although updating the Base Station software does not erase any settings, we recommend that you save your existing Base Station settings before uploading new software as a precaution. To do this, select Save As under the File menu. 7. In the Base Station menu, choose Upload Default Software and then click OK. |
