TOPIC

This article provides system requirements and compatibility information for the Apple Pro Keyboard.

DISCUSSION

The Apple Pro Keyboard was introduced with the iMac (Summer 2000), Power Mac G4 Cube, and Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) computers.

    General information:

    • The Apple Pro Keyboard requires an Apple computer with built-in USB (Universal Serial Bus) and Mac OS 9.0.4 or later.
    • The Apple Pro Keyboard does not have a Power button. When using an Apple Pro keyboard, press the computer's power button to turn it on.
    • For the best performance and compatibility, you should use the keyboard that came with your computer.

The Apple Pro Keyboard includes new keys: volume up, volume down, mute, and the media eject keys. For these keys to function on earlier USB-based Macs, Mac OS 9.1 is required. The Mac OS 9.1 updater is available for download, for users of Mac OS 9.0 or newer, from http://asu.info.apple.com/ .

Note : New keyboards ship with an OS 9.1 updater CD in the box and will not require the download.
