    Mac OS X Public Beta will not install on an ATA hard drive configured as slave.

DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    Computer appears to "freeze," or stops responding, at the end of the installation.

    Products affected

    • Power Mac G4 computers with two ATA drives, one configured as master, the second configured as slave
    • Power Mac G4 computers with single ATA drive configurations where the drive is configured as slave

    Solution

    Always install Mac OS X Public Beta on an ATA master hard drive.
