TOPIC

This article explains a key difference between Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X Public Beta with regards to the role and function of Multiple Users.

DISCUSSION

After installing Mac OS X Public Beta, the Setup Assistant asks you to choose a user name and password. This is for a user who will be the administrator of this computer. It is very important that you remember this name and password.

When you start up Mac OS X Public Beta, you are required to re-enter the name and password before you can use the features of Mac OS X Public Beta. Even after you log in, there are certain changes that can be made only by the administrator.

You can set up Mac OS X Public Beta to bypass the startup login dialog, but certain changes still require authentication by the administrative user.
