TOPIC

The Apache web server correctly produces error messages, such as when a browser client requests a URL that doesn't exist (HTTP Error 404). These error messages tell web clients to contact "admin@localhost.com." This article tells how to change that to the real admin email address.

DISCUSSION

The serveradmin setting in the httpd.conf file (/Local/Library/Webserver/Configurations/apache.conf) default is set to ServerAdmin root@enlarger.

Change root@enlarger to the server administrator's email address. Be certain to verify that you are not changing the document type and, as always, back up the config file before making any changes by typing the following command at the prompt:

    cp apache.conf apache.conf.old
