TOPIC With a 4-port Ethernet card installed, the first few times Mac OS X Server starts up seem to take a long time. DISCUSSION The default setting for the Ethernet ports is to use BootP. The computer will wait two minutes for a response from a BootP server. On a computer with a 4-port Ethernet card, this can result in a total of 10 minutes (two minutes for each port) of waiting. Once all the ports are configured properly or disabled if not in use, this will no longer occur. |
