TOPIC
You can control the volume (levels) and placement of sound (pan or spread) by visually editing line graphs. Pan is placement of sound for mono; spread is placement for stereo audio.
By adjusting audio levels you can, for example, fade background music when a person begins speaking in another track.
DISCUSSION
To adjust audio levels and placement:
1. Double-click the audio clip in the Browser or the Timeline to open it in the Viewer.
-
Note
: When you open a clip from the Browser, you are editing the file itself, which affects every instance of the clip. When you open the clip from the Timeline, you're editing only that instance of the clip.
2. Make your adjustments by doing one of the following:
-
To change audio levels, move the Level slider to the right to increase volume or to the left to lower volume.
-
To change pan or spread, move the Pan or Spread slider to the left to spread the sound to the left or to the right to spread the sound to the right. You can use keyframes to adjust audio level, pan, or spread over time.
