QuickTime is the most widely used cross-platform multimedia technology available today. QuickTime now has powerful streaming capabilities, so you can enjoy watching live events as they happen. The QuickTime 4 Pro version includes streaming capabilities as well as the tools you need to create, edit, and save QuickTime movies. These tools include QuickTime Player Pro, PictureViewer, and the QuickTime Plug-in.

QuickTime Player Pro has an exciting new look, easy-to-use controls, and the ability to save and bookmark your favorite movies, regardless of where they are stored. QuickTime Player Pro is ideal for viewing video and audio streams, animation, virtual reality scenes, and 3D models. It contains a convenient Favorites Drawer for one-click access to content, and it has sound-adjustment controls for balance, treble, and bass. You can also correct color, adjust contrast and brightness, and apply special effects such as film noise and lens flare to enhance your movies.

In addition to playing movies, QuickTime Player Pro can also open, edit, and save movies in dozens of different formats, including Macromedia Flash files. Flash is the Internet standard for interactive vector graphics and animation. With QuickTime 4 Pro, you can copy and paste Flash tracks from one movie to another; combine Flash tracks with video to create an interactive, user-controllable interface; and combine Flash tracks with other types of media. QuickTime Player Pro also has a new "LCD" panel that provides an easily accessible Timecode mode selector and a time slider for quick editing and saving.

Once you've finished editing, QuickTime Player Pro compresses your files using Sorenson Video 2, QDesign Audio 2, or Qualcomm PureVoice compressors for streaming from any Internet-ready web server. You can also choose one of the many standards-based compressors, such as H.263, to provide the ultimate in streaming media interoperability.

PictureViewer is an essential tool for viewing and converting images between standard publish-ing formats. It has enhanced support for still images, allowing you to rotate and resize more than a dozen of the most popular image file formats. Images can be saved in Photoshop or TIFF format for use by graphic artists, BMP or PICT format for use on Windows- or Mac OS-based computers, and PNG or JPEG for posting to your web site.

PictureViewer now supports the FlashPix multiresolution standard created by Kodak, Hewlett-Packard, and Live Picture. With PictureViewer, you can open FlashPix files easily from a digital camera. You can also export to an image sequence to create your very own slide shows, or use PictureViewer to view 16-bit-channel images.

QuickTime 4 Pro includes the QuickTime Plug-in, which works with the leading web browsers to open any media type supported by QuickTime. The QuickTime Plug-in replaces numerous applications and plug-ins, allowing you to save movies and QuickTime movie favorites to media servers around the world by simply using the convenient plug-in "Save" control.

The QuickTime files you create can be viewed by anyone using a Windows- or Mac OS-based computer with QuickTime 4 installed. The files will be displayed in exactly the same for mat as they were created. The QuickTime Player is included in QuickTime 4, but is not required to view QuickTime movies--many applications, such as word processors, web browsers, and presentation programs, can display QuickTime movies.

QuickTime 4 Pro offers a low-cost, simple, and powerful way to create, edit, and play media files on a computer. QuickTime 4 Pro applications work with all supported QuickTime media formats, making it easy to enjoy streaming media clips, movies, pictures, and sound files (including MP3 files) from the World Wide Web, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, and other sources. No other product offers such a high degree of media integration.
