TOPIC

There are two different serial numbers included in my Final Cut Pro box. One serial number is on the Final Cut Pro CD-ROM jacket, and the other is on a piece of paper. When I opened the Final Cut Pro application, I entered the serial number from the piece of paper and the program did not accept it. What are these serial numbers for?

DISCUSSION

The serial number on the CD-ROM jacket cover is for the Final Cut Pro application. The serial number from the piece of paper is used to unlock QuickTime 4 Pro.

Final Cut Pro requires the features of QuickTime 4 Pro. The CD-ROM disc includes a beta version of QuickTime 4 that must be unlocked for the "pro" features to be available. To unlock QuickTime 4, enter the serial number from the piece of paper into the QuickTime Settings Control Panel.

Note: You should enter the user name " Final Cut Pro " in conjunction with this serial number.

If QuickTime 3 Pro is already installed on your computer, QuickTime 4 will automatically accept that serial number and will unlock the pro features of QuickTime 4. You will not need to enter any serial number for QuickTime 4.
