DISCUSSION
Contents Introduction The Apple iMac, the Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White version only), and the 1999 PowerBook G3 (Bronze version only) uses auto negotiation to determine what speed (10 Mbit or 100 Mbit) and duplex (half or full) to use for the Built in Ethernet. Duplexer is an unsupported system extension that allows you to disable the auto negotiation and to use a set speed (10 Mbit or 100 Mbit) and duplex (Full or Half) for the built in Ethernet of an Apple iMac, a Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White version only), or a 1999 PowerBook G3 (Bronze version only). Duplexer is intended for use on both Server and Client Macintoshes. Installation and Documentation Copy the system extension with the desired speed and duplex setting to your system folder and restart your computer. For example, if you wanted to run at Full Duplex 100Mbit, then you would copy the extension named "Duplexer100Full" to your system folder. Do not copy more than one duplexer file to your system folder - only the first one will work. Please note: after the computer has restarted, you can use the Apple System Profiler to determine the current speed and duplex setting of your built in Ethernet. Requirements for Running Duplexer Apple iMac, Power Macintosh G3 (Blue and White version only), or 1999 PowerBook G3 (Bronze version only) using built in Ethernet, and is independent of the version or language of the Mac OS system software installed; however, this software does not work with Mac OS X. Support Duplexer is an unsupported tool and therefore is not supported by Apple Computer, Inc. Notes About Duplexer General Duplexer Resource Format |
