TOPIC

I've noticed that I cannot install Mac OS 8.5 and other software using an Apple Installer (such as AppleShare IP 6.1) on a volume larger than 21 Gigabytes.

DISCUSSION

The installer version accompanying Mac OS 8.5 and AppleShare IP 6.1 does not properly deal with volumes larger than 21 Gigabytes. The version of the installer application that accompanies Mac OS 8.6 corrects this limitation. If the newer version of the installer is not available, partitioning the drive so that a smaller than 21 Gigabyte segment is available will allow the older installer to function.
