TOPIC

New alert sounds are being added to the System, even though I only have panels and limited users defined. Is this a security hole in Multiple Users?

DISCUSSION

Even though Limited and Panels user accounts are prevented from modifying the System file directly, those users can use SimpleSound to add alert sounds to the System file of System Folder. This is the nature of the way SimpleSound works. If you wish to limit Non-Admin users from adding alert sounds, then you should deny users access to SimpleSound.

Sounds recorded with the SimpleSound application will not be accessible to users in the Limited and Panels environments. These sounds are stored in the System file, which Limited and Panels users are not allowed to open.

These new alert sounds will appear in the Sound Control Panel and may be selected as alert sounds by Limited and Panels users.
