TOPIC

Navigation Services dialog boxes are used to open, save and choose files in the Mac OS and programs. These were introduced with Mac OS 8.5 and replaced the older-style "Standard File" dialog boxes.

DISCUSSION

The new features of Navigation Services dialog boxes in Mac OS 9 are:
    • FTP Open and Save - You can now open files from and Save files to servers that use the File Transfer protocol (FTP). FTP servers communicate using the TCP/IP protocol. Unless the FTP server uses anonymous (guest) logons, you will need a valid name and password.
    • Network Services Location (NSL) Browsing - You can browse the network services that are offered by NSL.
