    What kinds of things can you not encrypt using Apple File Security?

DISCUSSION

    You cannot encrypt the following items:
    • Open files - Open files cannot be encrypted. Quit the application that has opened the file.
    • Folders - Only files can be encrypted, not folders.
    • Disks or Discs - Only files can be encrypted, not disks or discs.
    • The Trash Can
    • Files that have already been encrypted
