This article provides important information about the "Port in use" error message that may appear when using Mac OS 9 with Palm Desktop 2.5 software installed.
DISCUSSION Symptom
When using Mac OS 9 with Palm Desktop 2.5 software installed, and setting up the Internet or American Online (AOL) connection, a "port in use" error message may appear.
1. Turn off the Palm Desktop HotSync. 2. Open HotSync Manager by selecting the Palm Desktop icon in the menu bar (next to the Applications menu). 3. Choose Setup from the HotSync menu. 4. If necessary, select the HotSync Controls tab. 5. In the HotSync section, click the button next to Disabled and deselect the checkbox titled: 'Enable HotSync software at system startup.' To obtain the latest version of AOL software, connect to AOL and go to the keyword Upgrade. |
