TOPIC This article is intended to answer frequently asked questions about changes made to File Sharing in Mac OS 9. DISCUSSION Question: When I opened my File Sharing control panel I noticed that the computer had already assigned a name to the computer, 'PowerPC 750 128.0MB'. Other computers running Mac OS 9 on my network didn't do this. Why? Article 60626 " Mac OS 9: File Sharing Computer Name Filled In By Network Assistant . " Question: When I look at the bullets representing my password in the File Sharing control panel, they don't match the number of characters for the password I thought I used when setting up file sharing. Typing the password I sometimes use that matches the number of characters in the File Sharing control panel doesn't work. Has the computer changed my password? " Question: When I try to turn on file sharing via TCP/IP in the File Sharing control panel, it says that I have to make AppleTalk active - but I'm trying to use TCP/IP file sharing, not AppleTalk.
