TOPIC

I'm not able to save DV video from iMovie back to my camera, yet everything I've seen or read from Apple indicates that this is one of iMovie's features. What am I doing wrong?

DISCUSSION

Due to European Union import restrictions the DV-in feature, or ability to save DV movies to a camera, is disabled on most consumer-level digital video cameras sold in Europe. This feature is only enabled on certain high-level consumer and professional camera models. When this feature is enabled on a camera, it will work fine with iMovie.

While iMovie does have the ability to save out to a digital video camera, it can only do so on camera models that allow this feature to work. It's important to remember that if you are not able to save DV videos to your camera it is a limitation of the camera and not the iMovie application.

You may want to contact the store where you bought your camera, or the camera's manufacturer to determine what steps you can take to record movies from iMovie to your camera.
