TOPIC When I try to turn on file sharing via TCP/IP in the File Sharing control panel, it says that I have to make AppleTalk active - but I'm trying to use TCP/IP file sharing, not AppleTalk. Do I still have to make AppleTalk active? DISCUSSION Yes, AppleTalk must be active to use the implementation of TCP/IP filesharing included with Mac OS 9. If you do not want AppleTalk active over your network connection, you can set the AppleTalk control panel to another port such as "Remote Only." |
