TOPIC

I am trying to use the Voice Verification feature of Multiple Users under OS 9. I was able to successfully set up a voice password, but when I try to use it when logging in, the computer tells me it can't find a microphone.

DISCUSSION

    Possible Solution:

Try installing Speech Recognition from the OS 9 installer. It is likely that you are inadvertently using an older version of Speech Recognition than the one that comes with OS 9.

    Possible solution:

The external mic you used to create the password has been unplugged, and the voice print doesn't match using the computer's built-in mic. Plug the external microphone back in, or change the voice print password using the built-in mic instead.

This error is misleading in this case, since you must authenticate using the same microphone that you used to create your voiceprint. The voice authentication technology takes into account the inherent properties of the microphone while saving the voice print. If you will not normally have the external microphone available at login time, you should create a new voice print using the built-in microphone.
