TOPIC

Mac OS 9 shipped with a feature called "Multiple Users" that implements version 1.1 of the Macintosh Manager client for Mac OS 9.

This version of Macintosh Manager requires a new server component, Macintosh Management Server version 1.1, that is not part of Mac OS X Server 1.0-2.

DISCUSSION

Apple expects to release an update to Mac OS X Server, release 1.2, that includes Macintosh Management Server version 1.1 to administer Mac OS 9 workstations.

Important: Macintosh Management Server version 1.1 can only administer Mac OS 9 clients. If you upgrade to Macintosh Management Server 1.1 (included with Mac OS X Server release 1.2), you must also upgrade all your client computers to Mac OS 9.

If you have a mixed network of Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9 clients that you wish to administer with Macintosh Manager, you should wait to upgrade the Macintosh Manager Server when version 1.2 of that software becomes available. Apple exptects post this software to Apple Software Updates shortly after Mac OS X Server 1.2. is released.
