    About AppleScript and QuickTime Player

With QuickTime 4.1, you can use AppleScript to automate QuickTime Player.

    For example, you can:

    • open a movie and tell it to play for a specific duration
    • automate the conversion of movies from one format to another using export
    • automate hinting of movies for streaming
    • play a movie from a URL
    • script playback of movies with control over size, rate, volume, balance, and looping
    • automate annotation of movies
    • inventory movie contents (number of tracks, files used, annotations)
    • adjust track playback properties such as start time, volume, and layer

QuickTime Player 4.1 is not a recordable application.
