TOPIC

This article explains how to connect to a WebDAV server using Mac OS X Public Beta.

DISCUSSION

Web Based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) is a set of extensions to the hypertext transfer protocol (http). These extensions allow a WebDAV client to collaboratively edit and manage files on remote Web servers.

To connect to a WebDAV server, follow these steps:
      1. Choosing the Connect to Server command from the Finder's Go menu.
      2. Type the server's URL in the dialog box. Be sure to include "http://" before the server's name or IP address.

The WebDAV server appears on the desktop like any other file server.

More information about WebDAV can be found at http://www.webdav.org/ .
