    This article discusses an issue where Macintosh Manager client computers display an alert box with the error: "No printer has been selected in the Chooser."


DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    Client computers display an alert box with the following error message when users try to print:


      "No printer has been selected in the Chooser."

    You may also see Desktop Printer icons that are crossed out when opening System Access.

    Solution

    These symptoms are a good sign that the Printing Preferences file is unusable. Follow these steps:
      1. Log into System Access.
      2. Drag the Printing Preferences folder to the Trash.
      3. Disable the Multi-User Startup extension.
      4. Restart the client computer.
      5. Open the Chooser.
      6. Select a printer.
      7. Enable the Multi-User Startup extension.
      8. Restart the client computer.
