    Your personal MP3 Player may not be recognized by iTunes if you install an earlier driver than the one that comes with iTunes.

DISCUSSION

    Symptom

    iTunes does not recognize a compatible MP3 player device, even though you've installed the USB drivers that came with the player.

    Products affected
    • iTunes 1.0 and later

    Solution

    Reinstall iTunes. The USB drivers that came with your player are too old. The iTunes installer will install later USB drivers that are compatible.
