TOPIC This article contains an important WebObjects announcement. DISCUSSION In 2001-05, Apple released both WebObjects 5 and WebObjects 4.5.1. WebObjects 5 represents the future of WebObjects, allowing users to deploy all-Java solutions built using WebObjects' award-winning technology. WebObjects 5 is available worldwide through The Apple Store, Apple retail stores, and selected resellers. WebObjects 4.5.1 is a transitional product designed for the use of existing WebObjects 4.5 customers. This release allows deployment of Objective-C based WebObjects applications on Mac OS X 10.0, and includes a number of improvements for all platforms. All customers currently using WebObjects 4.5 should upgrade to this new release. WebObjects 4.5.1 is only available by telephone order from The Apple Store. An upgrade offer is available for WebObjects 4.5 customers to upgrade to WebObjects 4.5.1. This offer expires on 2001-09-14. Please visit http://www.apple.com/webobjects/ or your regional WebObjects page for more details. Effective 2001-07-02, Apple will no longer make WebObjects 4.5 licenses available. However, the license keys included with WebObjects 4.5.1 may still be used with WebObjects 4.5 deployments, allowing you additional time to transition. Apple typically supports the current release of WebObjects, as well as the latest update to the previous release. In accordance with this practice, on 2001-11-01, Apple will no longer make WebObjects 4.5 technical support available. Apple continues to provide regular fee-based support and updates for WebObjects 4.5.1 and we expect to do so for some time to come. Additionally, effective 2001-12-31, Apple will discontinue the availability of WebObjects 4.0.1 licenses and technical support. Please plan accordingly. Apple will of course continue to fulfill its obligations under existing contracts to license and support software products that may be subject to this notice.
